As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance environmental conditions and public health, the Gaza Culture and Development Group, GCDG implemented the project titled "Enhancing public health through the collection and transferring of solid waste from Deir al-Balah city" Funded by Human Appeal and carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Deir al-Balah and the Joint Services Council, the project aimed to address urgent waste management challenges.
Through the project, approximately 1,656 tons of solid waste were collected and transported—at a daily average of 25 to 30 tons—to designated transfer stations and landfills. Additionally, around 2,375 cesspits in displacement camps were backfilled, significantly mitigating environmental and health hazards.
Economically, the project created 150 temporary job opportunities for graduates and laborers. It also contributed to improving the efficiency of waste collection and transportation services, while reinforcing solid waste management capacities amid the ongoing emergency situation in the Gaza Strip.
